Ok, Let’s Do This!

Scarlett-LillianHi dolls!  After a much needed long break to explore the depths of my heart about “what’s next?,” I’m excited to announce that I’m back to blogging at this brand new virtual home! Thanks for stopping by today, I’m so excited to have you here to see what I’ve been working on behind the scenes the past few months!!!

You know that feeling when you get a crazy idea and you go “no, no, no” and God keeps whispering “Yes, yes, yes”?!?!  And you try to shoo it away like a pesky fly and it just keeps buzzing all around you?  Yeah, story of my life the past few months.

I’ve tried a lot of things over the years, and I knew I had a brand new passion stirring in my heart.  But, um, sure all those fears of the unknown about new beginnings crept in and I kept trying to talk myself out of it. Until one day I wrote in my prayer journal, “Lord, if this is truly what you want me to do, please make it loud and clear.”  And that…. He did. Ever since my husband and I announced our retirement from wedding photography earlier this year after a beautiful career we shared together, each day since I’ve had one person after another reach out unsolicited and tell me I need to go into decorating for the next chapter of my life. Strangers… people I haven’t talked to in years… girlfriends who asked for my help with their home… all of a sudden, the Lord made it loud and clear… and finally… finally… after a good pep talk from my Momma, and my husband’s loving encouragement, I gave in and said “Ok, Lord, let’s do this!”

I think back to a favorite hand towel gift my ex-boss gave me in my early 20s when I had the guts to quit the corporate world and pursue other creative dreams.  It said:

Life is not about finding yourself, it’s about creating yourself.

So welcome to Day 1 of my journey into home styling and interior decorating.  If you’ve been with me a while on social media, you know I attempted once upon a time to start another decor blog a few years ago, but found it to be too much to juggle while I was running a photography business.  Now that we had retired from photography, and I kept exploring my heart for the answer to “what’s next?”, I kept coming to back to my obsession with home decor, and I just couldn’t shake it. So now, it’s a fresh start, clean slate, brand new decorating blog!  I’m not gonna act like I’m an expert.  I know I have a lot to learn on the creative and business side of becoming an interior decorator.  But just as I did with my photography career, I learned along the way with each shoot that my amazing first clients allowed me the honor to shoot for them. I had success and I had failures, but I grew stronger and wiser from my mistakes than I ever did from my success.  Most importantly, I had passion to figure it out and eventually go on to build a successful business that allowed my hubby and I to travel the world with our cameras.  Now here I am, starting over from scratch… new passion, new business, new blog to document this amazing journey into the unknown.

As I begin this new journey, I think back to a favorite hand towel gift my ex-boss gave me in my early 20s when I had the guts to quit the corporate world and pursue other creative dreams.  It said:

Life is not about finding yourself, it’s about creating yourself.

So here’s to creating a brand new chapter…. shaking in my stilettos but bravely holding my head high putting myself out there with this new dream and saying “Ok, Lord, let’s do this!”

What I’m most excited about?  Helping you glam things up in your own home to help you create a space you love coming home to!

Ok dolls, it kind of took moving to Nashville and back home to Jacksonville to realize, I’m a little obsessed with decorating.  If you’ve been following my Instagram for anytime now, it’s kind of become all I get excited about these days.  With 2 moves across the country back to back in the past year, and even the honor to hire and collaborate with an awesome interior designer, I’ve learned a lot about what makes a home rock.  And now I’m offering my own virtual home styling services, so be sure to read more about it on this page to see how I can help you best! Be sure to check out this blog post of a master bedroom makeover in Memphis, TN I’ve already been working on, and this adorable teen girl’s beach themed room in Destin, FL, to show you what I can do for you too, no matter where you are located!

Also, I don’t want this blog to be all about me, I want it to also be about YOU!  I’ve already got an amazing home tour published here, and I’m looking for new submissions of creative girls who flex their decor diva muscle to showcase here on the blog.  So if you’d like to nominate someone, or even yourself, send me a note here.

And for my entrepreneur sisters out there reading this on the other side of the screen as you also pursue your dreams, or trying to muster up the guts to, I’ve got some fun things in the works for you too!  Click here to find out more and to provide your input on some things I’m working on behind the scenes for you also!

Lastly… to all those who gave me the encouragement and inspiration to do this… thank you from the bottom of my heart.  I am only as brave as those friends and family who stand in the gap with pep talks, love and support, and I cherish each and every one of you who reached out and gave input in recognizing this creative passion I love.

Let’s do this!!!  Let me know how I can help you turn your home into the home of your dreams!
